Biography

Originally from Los Angeles, California, Ken has enjoyed dancing since the age of 14. After finishing high school Ken received his education and training in jazz, tap, ballet, and modern from Mt. San Antonio College under the direction of JoElla Lewis, Pat Lefler and trained and worked under award winning choreographer for numerous musicals, t.v. shows, and film Lee Martino who is the recipient of four Ovation Awards and the Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Awards. While at Mt. San Antonio College Ken himself was then awarded in 1993 the Beth Spicer Scholarship Award for outstanding choreography. In 1995 Ken auditioned and won a scholarship program at the Jimmy DeFore Performing Arts Center in Orange County, California. Training under some of L.A.’s and Orange County’s top teachers and choreographers such as Michael Van Patten, Jose Silva, and Christine Baltes. He then went on to perform and choreograph in a variety of shows including dance concerts, industrials, television commercials, events and stage shows at Disneyland California. Between 1998-2001 he then continued his dancing career by performing on board the luxury cruise ships from Holland America Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean Cruise Line as dancer, Emcee, and assistant dance captain where he enjoyed the added benefit of traveling all over the world. Ken then moved to The Netherlands in 2001 where he chose to settle in the capital city of Amsterdam. Since his move he has performed and choreographed for an extensive assortment of shows and events all over Holland where he enjoyed an exciting three-year run in the “Holland Showdance Troup” for Wentink Events. In 2004 Ken was then offered the position as Associate Choreographer for the Novomundo Dinner Show the largest dinnershow in Holland with over 50 dancers, singers, and musicians performing nightly for an audience seating up to 1,400 guests, enjoying a successful three-year run. In 2007 Ken then had the pleasure of working with the famed dutch comedians “De Lama’s” choreographing their live theater tour, as well as “De Lama’s Fairwell Tour” in 2008. He since went on to choreograph for the “Musical Highlights Dinner Show”, the “American Showcase Dinner Show”, the all girl dance crew “The Vixens”, the “Rat Pack Jr.” Musical Show, the “Christian Farla Illusionist Rock Show” 2008, then Ken had the pleasure of being the associate choreographer for the international DJ Fedde LeGrand on his video “Let Me Be Real” before doing The” Christian Farla Illusionist Rock Show” in 2009 and was then asked again to choreograph for the revival tour of “De Lama’s” theater tour “Club Melchior” in 2009 working for Night of Comedy productions, and went on further with famed dutch tv host/comedian Tijl Beckand as assistant choreographer in 2010 on the competition television program “Let’s Dance” for the rtl 4 television network, where Tijl performed as “Austin Powers” winning the show over all other 24 contestants. In the summer 2010 and 2011 Ken choreographed over 80 dancers and performers including famed dutch singer Ellen Ten Damme, and the belgian singer Belle Perez at the Goffert Stadium for the international opening ceremony of the 4day flag parade and walking event in Nijmegen Holland. He has also enjoyed choreographing for hair shows and events for such companies as Goldwell, Davines, and Welgro in 2010 and 2011. Ken has been retained on staff as a teacher and a guest teacher at numerous schools and studios throughout the Netherlands including The Amsterdam Dance Center, the Leidse Ballet School, the Rotterdam Dance Academy, Albeda Collage located in Rotterdam South, and the Fontys Dance Academy in Tilburg where he teaches all dance departments including Circus, Teachers Department, Musical Theater Department, The Pre-Education program, and Advanced Dancer Professional Department.

Many pre-education students who have trained under Ken have gone on to be accepted to all the major Universities throughout the Netherlands, and countless students under Kens training and direction at the Univeristy level have then gone on to perform in all major musicals throughout Holland including “Miss Saigon”, “Hairspray”, “Saturday Night Fever” and “Mary Poppins”.

Ken continues his love of dance by taking classes and attending dance conventions yearly in both Los Angeles and New York. Ken has been recently approched again to be an Associate choreographer for the now owned RTL television network dinnershow at Studio 21, “Revolution”, working under famed french choreographer Marc Forno.

It’s obvious when working with Ken that choreography and teaching are his passion. Ken Incorporates all forms of dance styles and techniques in every project with a strong emphasis on jazz. With his love of dance, style, and technique, dance class/choreography from Ken Molineux is unique, fun and definitely not to be missed!
